Aloha! I’m Troy Daniels, a native Californian and a photographer, multimedia producer, and web designer. I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of California but soon discovered my passion in computer graphics and photography at the Academy of Arts College in San Francisco. I completed a Multimedia Studies certification and dove into the dot-com world of visual software design.
I spent the next 12 years in Northern California working in photography and visual software design. I photographed real estate properties in San Francisco for McGuire Real Estate Company and independent realtors, and obtained a Professional Green Building Certificate from the Sonoma State University California in 2006, expanding my interests into architectural sustainability.
During 2005 and 2006, I spent 18 months traveling through California, Arizona, and New Mexico in an Airstream trailer as a volunteer builder of sustainable homes. I also spent time in Pakistan building structures for earthquake relief. During this time, I created many photo journals to document my experiences and expanded my visual diary. Those experiences sharpened my eye to varying geographical shades of light and different artistic expressions of lifestyle.
After a trip to Australia in 2007, my partner and I decided that Tasmania would be a great place to build an environmentally friendly residence and explore another adventure in photography. While in Tasmania, I worked for advertising agency Green Team Australia as a multimedia designer and for the Australian Antarctic Division as a video editor and photographer.
I returned to the US in March 2015 to live on the beautiful island of Maui, where each day brings inspiration from nature’s magnificent palette. I bridge my technical expertise in photography with art, nature, and architectural design. I am highly proficient in Photoshop, video editing, and multimedia production, and I have the skills and experience to produce creative and inspiring visual projects.
I am particularly interested in architectural photography, as I enjoy the challenge of showcasing interior design that captures a lifestyle. I specialize in finding the architectural detail that illuminates the space and in demonstrating through photography the life in a home—the life that can be lived, the life of one’s dreams. Faces and relationships also intrigue me—by how to capture the connections between people, their lives, and their histories in their expressions and how they relate to each other.
